Recently recalled to the owner of one company where I worked. The lady has a special area where you have your business. But I remember one day upset a customer told: “if you do not, goes somewhere else.” The client, of course, did not know who that lady was the owner. I guess was an employee taken more moody.
This was more than 10 years but still I have very fresh memories, because I was very impressed. I’ve always had a sense of service. One idea that the purchase is more complete experience than the product itself. So comments like this in my “management” are a big NO-NO.
And the reason is very simple: I think one’s reputation is of great value. No matter if you are a mega company or you are an employee or owner of the stationery. The reputation of your personal and professional activities is important.
I have seen many businesses in Mexico that are doing well IN SPITE of their owners and employees. How many times has passed us get to a store, receiving a poor service and attention, but bought anyway because it is the only place that has what we need?
And if the place sold us. But his reputation was in tatters, at least with us. And maybe go back because it is the only place that has what we need, but a good deal goes beyond the immediate sale.
I think a good business is one that leaves a lasting impression to the customer. It is he who does the customer really wants to return (or not need what we offer).
In short, a good deal (or transaction, or sale) is the mean plenty of business (or more work, trading, sales)
If an employer bases its livelihood on the market only in the fact that no one else is racing, I think it is a serious risk. And I see many companies of all sizes and items like that in our country.
As a person is the same. Never mind that you are entrepreneur or a freelancer, your reputation is one of your most valuable assets. Although it is difficult to believe, ethical actions, compliance with what is promised the help when someone needs it, being honest and everything that contributes to improving relationships and revenues of all, pay good dividends in the long run.
You never know for quince works right? So if your behavior was the best while working in X Company, maybe in 5 years, Carlit’s, the HR guy calls you on your next job which is a mega company with a great salary. You never know.
And the same goes in reverse. I remember a friend who is not a bad person, but I used to fight with everyone. Left loggerheads with his former partner in an advertising agency (much because of my friend, I must say) and as 7 years after the partner was the creative director of another agency where my friend applied for the job. Needless to say, did not get it.
Guard your reputation as a cholesterol-conscious. Guard your reputation as caregivers to keep them from stealing the wallet on the subway or at the stadium. Caring reputation, because when you spot it costs a lot of work cleaning again and there are people with no clean ever.
With good reputation can go far. And I’m convinced that is a key element in our path to wealth.
